Our bodies are auto-regulating systems that are designed to heal naturally. If you cut your finger, the cut heals automatically – unless it is prevented from healing in some way. So why is it that some symptoms simply don’t seem to resolve?
What gets in the way of your body healing?
When injuries, physical pain and illnesses recur or stay chronic over extended periods of time, there is usually some unconsidered aspect getting in the way. Healing can be impeded by unconscious thought patterns, beliefs, decisions, stressful environments, habits, as well as lifestyle choices.
Recent, acute physical injuries (for example, a fracture, sprain or muscle injury) can heal faster when any emotional and mental residue from the time of injury is recognised and released. This could be fear experienced at the time of injury, something seen, heard or felt, any limiting beliefs, even worry or anxiety from receiving a diagnosis.

META-Health is the science of body-mind-social health with a focus on how specific stress triggers, emotions and beliefs affect specific organ symptoms. It is about the interconnectedness of the body, mind and social environment and the art of self-healing.
To be META-Healthy means to be aware of your body’s intelligence, the stress triggers, emotions and beliefs that affect your organ symptoms and taking conscious actions for self-healing and personal growth.

Life comes with ups as well as downs for all of us, and while we are usually good at processing the happiness and joys of life, we sometimes have trouble dealing with the downs. Talking with friends and family is helpful, and yet many differing opinions or expectations from those closest to us may lead to confusion and additional stress.
Our current society and culture seems to propagate the belief that we should be able to cope with everything, that we should be strong and do it on our own. And if we find we are unable then we simply look for the pill or quick fix to sort it out for us. Counselling offers the possibility of a more sustained sense of wellbeing.
When we choose exploration of self it opens us up vs. a shutting us down; we can start to identify the causes of current concerns, notice factors that perpetuate problems, and become aware of fears and beliefs that limit our emotional freedom. An understanding and working through of our difficulties, anxiousness, or moodiness enables a falling away of old patterns.
Counselling offers a safe and confidential space for you to voice your concerns and difficulties while being heard. A space in which you can reflect on what you might wish to change to live a more meaningful and fulfilled life. My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means I use a combination of body-oriented therapies with traditional talk therapy in my practice. Research shows that ultimately our stresses and limitations are held not only in our mental narratives but also in our physical bodies; that both somatic therapies as well as cognitive approaches are essential for healing, recovering and making positive life changes.
In my experience, no single form of therapy is apt, or even adequate in all situations, and my integrative approach allows me to meet your specific and individual needs in our work together.

I work together with you to reveal triggers and work with pain so you can release energy and stuck tension in the body to allow your body to heal. As Dr. Gabor Maté says, “The physiology of one individual cannot be separated from the psychological and social environment.”
Working in groups can be a powerful way to access change within you. It can often bring new perspectives to help you see your situation a new light. Sharing and listening to others can also help to know you’re not alone in your struggles. All groups and workshops are completely confidential. A cost-effective way of accessing support.
