No. It is a combination of acupressure, talk therapy and modern psycho-therapeutic tools like NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and EMDR (Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). The affirmations used in EFT are derived from NLP, and the 9 gamut procedure is similar to the process used in EMDR. EFT also includes statements on self-acceptance – in therapy, the way we talk to ourselves is one of the most important tools in changing thought and behaviour patterns.
Is EFT safe?
Yes. It is completely safe and there are no known negative side effects.
Is EFT a distraction technique?
No. Distraction is “a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else”. EFT requires a complete focus on the problem or issue throughout the session. The actual words of the client’s presenting problem are used during the process and reminder phrases are also used to keep a focus on the specific issue.
Why do we affirm the negatives in EFT?
Sometimes people are resistant to focusing on the negative while tapping. Either for fear of feeling the feeling, or fearing this will attract more negativity or some other similar reason. But one is already feeling these feelings. Acknowledging our felt sense is the first step to healing and change. By identifying then vocalising where one is at, one is bringing up that energy in the body and clearing the negative, instead of suppressing and having negative thoughts and beliefs subconsciously run one’s life. Once we clear the negative blocks, that’s when change happens.

A mind-body modality that is safe, gentle, and non-invasive, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a calming technique which uses acupressure points to modify the body’s stress response. It is also known as tapping because we tap with our fingertips on acupressure points on the hands, face and body while verbalising the issue we want to resolve.
If you’re about to have a private session or join an EFT group, workshop or training with me, here is a short video for you to get familiar with the EFT tapping points before we work together.
This video is simply a brief introduction to the tapping points as I will use them in the session. To know more about EFT, click here.
This article in the Harvard Business Review by Scott Berinato, speaks evocatively of grief, an emotion generally difficult to access in all its forms. It often surfaces in its forms of sadness and loss after working with the more apparent feelings of worry, fear, frustration, annoyance, anger.
This is very apparent to me as a psychotherapist when working with clients who present with anxiety, fear, panic attacks, anger issues. These layers of emotions surface consistently thanks to the effectiveness of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), which I integrate into my practice along with talk therapy.
David Kessler says in the article, “Acceptance, as you might imagine, is where the power lies”. He’s absolutely right, and acceptance is the first port of call and a powerful aspect of EFT (Emotional freedom Techniques).
Kessler also talks about coming “into the present” to deal with the pain of grief. When we use EFT we focus on noticing how we are feeling right now, which brings us into the present very quickly.
In my experience there is nothing as powerfully effective as EFT to help access feelings and process our emotions. EFT is my answer to the ‘HOW’ asked in the article.
Group EFT tapping followed by a guided meditation to build a strong sense of connection to self. Access your emotional energy to release tension, get grounded and and find complete calm in your body and mind.
Experience the power of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and “borrow benefits” as we tap together in a small group. Tapping helps calm the nervous system, release tension and reduce the intensity of uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in the mind and body.
We end with a meditation, either sitting or laying down. The meditation is guided, helping you to
– feel more centred
– access safety and comfort in your body
– connect with self
– be at ease in your physical and emotional body.
Helping you to be grounded and calm to increase your sense of vitality & aliveness.
Access a more grounded sense of self to feel calm, collected and confident. Notice how tapping before meditation helps you to be more present and relax deeper.
Please see the calendar for dates and venue details. (I’m offering this session free of charge, weekly, in April & May 2020. Sign up here).
Did you know that your Emotional Intelligence or EQ is a bigger determining factor of resilience and success in life than your IQ?
Emotional Intelligence has been identified as one of the top skills for the 21st Century by the World Economic Forum.
What is emotional intelligence anyway? Basically, it’s the ability to notice your emotions, know what you’re feeling, be able to feel what you’re feeling so you can navigate through the experience. EQ leads to greater self-integration, which allows more empathy for others’ emotions, deepening connection and social interactions.
You’d think it was a no brainer to feel your feelings, right? But there’s a big difference between knowing what you’re feeling and being able to experience the emotions.
Emotional health is not only about big issues like depression or anxiety. It includes the little worries, frustrations, doubts, sadness or guilt that you experience in your daily life.
Most of us have never been taught, or never learned, how to navigate the intensity of ‘bad’ feelings. It’s difficult, and can be literally painful; these uncomfortable emotions are not only in our mind and in our thoughts but also held in our physical bodies. (For example, tightness in your neck and shoulders when you’re worried, tension in your stomach when you’re nervous, or heaviness in your heart when you’re sad).
In this workshop I share how acknowledging and mobilising emotions regulates interactions, physical health, and responses to daily stress. Learn to use your emotions as your guideposts rather than something to manage or control. Become responsive vs. reactive; empowered in life, in health and in your relationships.
Emotional Freedom Techniques
I will introduce EFT (also known as tapping), a simple, practical and useful technique that you learn to use right away. EFT is a powerful tool that helps in the three ‘A’s needed for healing and growth: Awareness, Acceptance and Action.
This is an experiential and interactive workshop including time for Q&A.
FREE resources: Receive a free EFT ‘how to’ card plus a detailed emotions chart.
Participant feedback: “The workshop gave me a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our mind, body, and feelings, along with how to use EFT. My biggest take away was the breathing and tapping technique that I can implement on myself and the student athletes I work with. Thank you Falguni for a warm, inclusive and thought provoking session” -Kadie
Dates, times and venues vary. Please see the calendar for upcoming workshops on this topic.
