Support Group for Emotional Well Being: 6 sessions over 6 weeks

Are you in need of support for self-care, to maximise your emotional well-being?

It’s so much easier sometimes to get by in life using the same old coping mechanisms. But you could choose differently, to value yourself enough to reach out and connect and learn new ways to start living instead of coping.

Sharing and being supported in a group can be profoundly helpful; it can often bring new perspectives to help you see your situation a new light, bringing new solutions as you build connection with the other group members.

In this closed support group, we practice the EFT tapping technique, grounding and breath exercises, self-compassion and mindfulness as we share our experiences within the confidential group space.

You will come away with practical tools and strategies to implement into your busy life.

This weekly group is an opportunity to receive continuous support for your emotional well being. It provides a safe and confidential space to free us from the emotional burdens that we all carry with us. Bring any issues you know are weighing you down, limiting you or holding you back and be open to receiving support.

A cost effective option compared to individual sessions.

Each group accommodates maximum 6 people and runs once a week over 6 weeks.

Decoding physical symptoms

Resolve chronic symptoms. Regain optimal health.
Are you suffering from chronic pain or physical problem that has left you frustrated, overwhelmed, afraid, confused? Have you “tried everything” and nothing has worked?

Rather than simply managing the symptoms, getting to the root cause of the symptom and taking conscious actions can allow the body to self heal.

Our bodies are auto-regulating systems that are designed to heal naturally. If you cut your finger, the cut heals automatically – unless it is prevented from healing in some way. So why is it that some symptoms simply don’t seem to resolve?

What gets in the way of your body healing?

META-Health shoulder painWhen injuries, physical pain and illnesses recur or stay chronic over extended periods of time, there is usually some unconsidered aspect getting in the way. Healing can be impeded by unconscious thought patterns, beliefs, decisions, stressful environments, habits, as well as lifestyle choices.

Recent, acute physical injuries (for example, a fracture, sprain or muscle injury) can heal faster when any emotional and mental residue from the time of injury is recognised and released. This could be fear experienced at the time of injury, something seen, heard or felt, any limiting beliefs, even worry or anxiety from receiving a diagnosis.

What if you knew exactly what needs to be resolved and to allow your body to heal fast?

META-Health is the science of body-mind-social health with a focus on how specific stress triggers, emotions and beliefs affect specific organ symptoms. It is about the interconnectedness of the body, mind and social environment and the art of self-healing.

To be META-Healthy means to be aware of your body’s intelligence, the stress triggers, emotions and beliefs that affect your organ symptoms and taking conscious actions for self-healing and personal growth.

Heard about EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) but haven’t experienced it yet? Curious about the technique? In need of a refresher on the technique?

In this introductory group you will experience the EFT tapping technique, and learn how to use it for yourself to help with daily stresses. EFT is not only powerful and effective but also very simple to use.

EFT is a relaxing mind-body technique that is safe, gentle, and non-invasive. EFT allows us to release uncomfortable feelings like anger, hurt, guilt, fear or grief so we can feel better fast. It combines a gentle touch with conscious attention; we tap with our fingertips on acupressure points on the hands, face and body while focusing on an issue we wish to resolve. I will lead participants through experiential group exercises with EFT tapping, including a brief introduction for those who are new to this technique.

It doesn’t matter if you know how to tap or not, whether you’re just starting out with EFT or are an experienced tapper, you can just tap along with me.

Some areas we can work with are frustration, anxiety, relationships, job stress, physical pain, phobias, connection, more peace and happiness in your daily life. So simply bring an open mind and an issue in your life that you would like to explore.

No two tapping groups are the same, as we have different participants, touch on different issues and there is often a group theme.

Tapping as a group literally benefits everyone, because tapping with others can help reduce the intensity of your own issues. This is known as “borrowing benefits” and is one of the most profound discoveries of EFT.

You will also learn the basics of this powerful yet simple EFT technique, so you can continue to practice EFT on your own to resolve daily stresses.

Join in one or more of these Introductory EFT groups. Anyone (18+ years) is welcome to join.

Stay or Run? Dealing with Discomfort

Sitting with emotional discomfort is difficult. We all have strategies to cope with/run from emotional pain.

This is not surprising, as usually, this is what we have been taught, albeit unintentionally. Don’t cry, have a sweet; don’t be sad; stop making such a fuss; it’s not so bad; just get on with it… sound familiar? Not only do we not like feeling pain, we don’t like to see loved ones in pain either, which is often the origin of these sentiments. And having learned this as children, it becomes how we act from our subconscious space as adults.

However, true freedom ultimately comes from embracing our emotional pain, from sitting with the discomfort. This requires awareness, and patience with ourselves, as we reprogram our reflexes – to hurt, pain, anger, stress – into mindful reactions.

In her book Daring Greatly, Brené Brown (Ph.D., LMSW), research professor & author says: “Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy… Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as ‘tapping’) effectively releases negative feelings and emotions that have been impacting people for years, and helps to instil new beliefs which lead to more conducive ways of living. Religions, philosophies, and age old wisdom have long held that gratitude is not only an indispensable human virtue, but an integral component of health, wholeness, and well-being.

Science has also slowly but surely come to the same conclusion; much scientific research now proves that cultivating gratitude has a large number of benefits. Gratitude improves psychological, emotional and physical well being, and it also leads to stronger relationships and communities.

Studies done by Prof. R. Emmons (University of California), reveal that:

In an experimental comparison, those who kept gratitude journals on a weekly basis exercised more regularly, reported fewer physical symptoms, felt better about their lives as a whole, and were more optimistic about the upcoming week compared to those who recorded hassles or neutral life events (Emmons & McCullough, 2003).

Many studies show that five-minute a day gratitude journal can increase your long-term well-being by more than 10 percent… which is the same impact as doubling your income!

Gratitude also strengthens our emotions: being grateful reduces negative feelings, helps us to have happier memories, and helps us to bounce back from stress.

Based on the concept that the root of joy is gratefulness, and on research that proves the multiple benefits of a regular practice of gratitude, this is an experiential and interactive workshop.

We will use EFT and Meditation to cultivate and deepen our sense of gratitude, delving into something new and exploring different aspects of gratitude every month. In the last workshop we discussed Dr. Dispenza’s concept of being grateful before the event – an interesting and thought provoking approach.

The goal of the workshop is to cultivate simple ways to bring more joy into our lives, and see how that can help to alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety.
